45th edition of the Internazional Composition Competition Valentino Bucchi Award
The Valentino Bucchi Prize continues its commitment to the cultural and artistic policy that has
defined it since its inception, with a mission dedicated to fostering young talent and individual
creativity within the realms of pure research, experimentation, and art music.
The 45th edition of the Competition is dedicated to compositions for chamber ensemble, ranging
from a minimum of three to a maximum of five acoustic instruments, chosen from the following
available instrumentation: Flute (including Piccolo or Alto Flute – one player), Clarinet (including
E-flat Clarinet or Bass Clarinet – one player), Piano, Violin, and Cello. This choice aims to enhance
and expand the chamber music repertoire, focusing on artistic content and idiomatic writing for the
specific instruments selected by the candidates.

Art. 1 (Subject)
The Competition is dedicated to chamber composition. Contestants may freely choose a minimumof three and a maximum of five acoustic instruments from the following available instrumentation:
Flute (including Piccolo or Alto Flute – one player), Clarinet (including E-flat Clarinet or Bass
Clarinet – one player), Piano, Violin, and Cello.
Art. 2 (Participants)
- a) The Competition is open to composers of all nationalities born after January 1st, 1986.
- b) First-prize winners of previous editions of the Valentino Bucchi Prize are excluded from
participation.
Art. 3 (Registration Procedures, Rules, and Requirements)
- a) Contestants must ensure the score reaches the following address no later than September 10,
2026:

- 1. Compositions must not exceed a maximum duration of twelve minutes;
- 2. Works that have already won prizes in other competitions are not admitted;
- 3. Works that have already been performed in concerts or educational contexts are
admitted; - 4. Contestants have the option (but not the obligation) to send an audio or video recording
of the submitted work; - 5. Contestants may participate with a maximum of two works;
- 6. Two physical copies of each score are required. Each must display: full name, date and
place of birth, nationality, title, and duration of the composition; - 7. A PDF copy with the same information must be sent to: bucchi@premiobucchi.it;
- 8. The application must be completed following the procedures outlined in the attached
Registration Form and Privacy Policy.
Art. 4 (Structure of the competition)
The competition is divided into two phases:- a) First phase (selection of finalists)
The jury, on the basis of the evaluation of the scores received, will select up to a maximum of
seven composers who will be admitted to the second phase of the competition. - b) Second phase (final concert)
- 1. the works produced will be performed in a public concert that will be broadcast online in
live streaming on the YouTube channel of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana and
subsequently there will be a repeat performance organized by the Valentino Bucchi
Foundation; - 2. the final concert is scheduled for November 2026 as part of the 2026/27 Artistic Season
of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, at the Sala Casella, via Flaminia 118 in Rome; - 3. the performance of the scores will be entrusted to instrumentalists chosen in agreement
with the Accademia Filarmonica Romana; - 4. the announcement of the winning work of the Valentino Bucchi Prize will be
communicated within a week of the final concert and publicised on the website of the
Accademia Filarmonica Romana, the Valentino Bucchi Foundation as well as via national
music channels and broadcasting stations.

- 1. the works produced will be performed in a public concert that will be broadcast online in
- a) All finalist competitors will receive a certificate of merit and will participate in the public
concert scheduled in collaboration with the Accademia Filarmonica Romana which will
be broadcast in live streaming as well as recorded; - b) the author of the winning work of theValentino Bucchi Prize will obtain a grant which consists
of the reimbursement of expenses of 2,000.00 euros gross and involvement in a subsequent
concert as part of the artistic activities of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana; - c) the Author of the work winning the Valentino Bucchi Prize will receive a commission for
an original composition for chamber orchestra to be performed as a world premiere in the
concert season of the European Philharmonic Academy; - d) the jury will have the right to announce any ‘honorable mentions’ awarded to finalist
competitors, who were not winners of the prize awarded. - a) The jury will appoint the president who will guide the evaluation procedure;
- b) the decisions taken by the jury will be final;
- c) the jury will also retain the ultimate right not to award the Valentino Bucchi Prize provided for according to art. 5 of these Regulations.
- a) In case of any dispute, this regulation, in the original Italian version, will be the only legally
valid text considered; - b) for any controversy, the Court of Rome will be the competent authority.
Art. 5 (Valentino Bucchi Prize)
The competition assigns the single and indivisible Valentino Bucchi Prize.Art. 6 (Competition Jury)
The Jury will be announced by September 2026.Art. 7 (Amendments to the Regulations)
The organizational management of the prize reserves the right to make any changes deemednecessary to these regulations should reasons of force majeure require.

Art. 9 (Acceptance of the rules of the regulation)

organizational methods and with logic strictly related to the purposes indicated by the activity
in question;

• The protection or defense of rights in court
• The fulfillment of obligations under laws and regulations in force, including in accounting
